Committee Looks to Limit Non-Coaching Staff
The Division I Recruiting and Athletics Personnel Issues Cabinet has proposed legislation that would curb the number of noncoaching staff members with responsibilities specific to several high-profile sports. The proposals would: limit noncoaching staff dedicated to football teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision to four; limit noncoaching staff dedicated to football teams in the Football Championship Subdivision to two; and, limit noncoaching staff dedicated to basketball teams (men’s or women’s) to one.
“The membership has made it clear that there continues to be a proliferation of these noncoaching staff members,” Long said. “Our survey also was clear, with more than 80 percent indicating that growth should be limited. The cabinet felt like we were justified in putting something before the membership.” To read more, click here.
