Training Facilities Can Be Costly

Changes to the new athletics training facility at the University of Tennessee suggested by the new coach will add an estimated $9,000,000 to the original $39,000,000 projected cost according to Megan Boehnke of Knoxnews.com.

Derek Dooley reviewed the plans for the McKenzie Lawson Athletic Center Addition, originally estimated at $39 million, soon after arriving in January. He requested adjustments to the location, size and shape of the 22,000-square-foot weight room, according to Bill Myers, chief financial officer for the UT athletics department. Those changes will inflate the cost of the entire project by more than 20 percent.  To read more, click here.
