The Setonian reported on new AD Pat Lyons: "I'm pleased with where (the department) is going so far. I think we're seeing our athletic teams, our coaches and our athletes doing great things for our school, not only on the field but in the community and community service. We have to keep doing that." Lyons said he told the University before he was hired that his focus would be on every team, not just men's and women's basketball.

Following discussions in Dallas last week the consensus is that the football postseason will evolve into a three-game playoff to replace the Bowl Championship Series system. PAC-12 Commissioner Larry Scott favored fewer bowl games: “We need to get away from the societal trend of everyone getting a trophy.” Hallelujah...finally someone making sense!
