Stanislaus AD Finalists Emerge

The Modesto Bee reports that the finalists for the Cal State Stanislaus AD position are: Cindy Spiro, the Senior Associate Athletics Director at UC Davis; Zack Wallace, the Associate Athletics Director for External Revenue at Portland State; Mike Matoso, Senior Associate Director of Athletics at the University of San Diego; and Scott Leykam, the Senior Associate Commissioner for External Relations for the West Coast Conference.

Rhode Island Extends AD

The University of Rhode Island and Director of Athletics Thorr D. Bjorn have agreed to a new three-year contract that will keep him in his current position through June 30, 2015.

Alcorn Fires Football Coach, Hires AD

Alcorn State football coach Melvin Spears has been fired after just one season on the job. The school also announced that Patric Simon has been hired as the new athletic director. Simon previously held the same position at Langston (Okla.) University.

Georgia Tech Extends Hall

Georgia Tech athletics announced that head baseball coach Danny Hall, who is closing in on his 1,000th career victory and ranks among the winningest coaches in college baseball, has been awarded a five-year contract extension through 2016.

Texas Official Fired for Sexual Harassment

Citing a specific incident and "a pattern of inappropriate conduct" on earlier occasions, the president of the University of Texas fired Cleve Bryant last year after concluding that he touched a female administrative assistant inappropriately. Bryant was the associate athletic director for football operations.

Rowan AD Retiring

Rowan athletic director Joy Solomen is stepping down after more than 25 years in the position. She will be replaced on an interim basis by associate athletic director Dan Gilmore.

Auburn's Fortner to Step Down

Although her contract runs through the 2014-15 season, women's hoops Coach Nell Fortner has announced that she will be stepping down following this season. Fortner has a 143-105 record at Auburn, including a 51-65 SEC record.

Northern State University President Jim Smith has announced Joshua Moon as the next Athletic Director at Northern State University. Moon, 32, comes to Northern State from Western Illinois University (Macomb, Ill.) where he serves as the senior associate director of athletics.

Harper Named Hoops Coach at Western Kentucky

Carson-Newman College Athletics Director David Barger announced that he will retire from fulltime service on April 30. The longest serving AD in the South Atlantic Conference, Barger will "for the foreseeable future" raise funds and friends for his alma mater on a part-time basis.

XOS Digital announced that during a period of increased sponsorship demand for online sports programming, it has added former IMG executive Brian Florko as director of strategic digital partnerships. Florko joins XOS Digital after four years as an account executive for the college division of IMG. His primary accounts included the University of Cincinnati and the University of Kentucky.

Nevada Extends Ault

Nevada football coach Chris Ault has agreed to a two-year extension that will bring his salary to $535,000 by 2015. That's about half the average salary in the Mountain West Conference where he'll begin his 28th season coaching the Wolf Pack next season.

Buffalo Names Lambert Interim AD

The University at Buffalo has turned to John Lambert to temporarily lead its Division of Athletics. Lambert, the university's senior associate athletic director, will serve as interim athletic director. He will not seek the job on a permanent basis, but will assist UB President Satish Tripathi in the national search for a permanent hire.

Mount St. Mary's Hoops Coach Placed on Leave

Mount St. Mary's University (Emmitsburg, Md.) placed Head Men's Basketball Coach Robert Burke on paid administrative leave Wednesday, and appointed Assistant Coach Matt Henry as acting head coach.

Karl Benson Exits WAC for Sun Belt
