Virginia State Names Jackson X-Country & Track Coach

Petersburg, VA - Virginia State University has announced the hiring of Jason Jackson as the new Men’s & Women’s Cross-Country and Track & Field Head Coach. Jackson takes over a program that placed third in the 2009 CIAA Cross-Country Championship but won the Championship in 2008.

Brian Pracht, senior associate athletics director at Wichita State, has accepted a position at the University of Arkansas as associate athletic director for marketing. 
Pracht, a native of Emporia, Kan., has worked at Wichita State, Long Beach State and the Southland Conference.

Virginia Tech's AD Weaver Plans to Retire in 2015

Over the years Virginia Tech has benefited greatly from the stable leadership of football coach Frank Beamer and AD Jim Weaver. Both are slated to work together through 2015. Weaver is coming off of back surgery and suffers from Parkinson's, but he indicated that he intends to work until he turns 70.

St. Augustine Names Spencer Head Men's BB Coach

Steve Abbott has been named interim athletic director at the University of Maine replacing Blake James who stepped down to return to the University of Miami. Abbott played football at Harvard and has been serving as chief of staff for Senator Susan Collins. Abbott practiced law in Maine following his graduation from the University of Maine Law School.
