Virginia State Names Jackson X-Country & Track Coach

Petersburg, VA - Virginia State University has announced the hiring of Jason Jackson as the new Men’s & Women’s Cross-Country and Track & Field Head Coach. Jackson takes over a program that placed third in the 2009 CIAA Cross-Country Championship but won the Championship in 2008.

Jackson comes to Petersburg after spending the past 4 years at Seton Hall University (South Orange, NJ - Big East Conference - NCAA Div I). He primarily worked with the Sprinters, Hurdlers, Jumpers and Multi Events. During his tenure at “The Hall” Jackson’s athletes excelled at both the Conference and NCAA Level. His athletes have earned over 15 Big East Championship Titles, 6 Penn Relay Championship Watches and 3 NCAA All-American Honors.

A native of Lakewood, New Jersey, the two time Big East Champion (1993 & 1994) earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (‘96), Masters Degree in Corporate Communications(’98), and recently completed a Master’s Certificate in Sport and Exercise Psychology (‘10) all from Seton Hall University.
