DAC, Frontier Conferences to discuss future
Dakota Athletic Conference and Frontier Conference officials are meeting in Dickinson, ND next week to discuss their future(s).
The Associated Press reported the meeting could be a preliminary step in merger talks, but DAC Commissioner Lavern Jessen said officials must first decide if it is economically feasible for the two conferences to work as one. He says the primary focus will be on the distances teams would have to travel.
The Frontier is a league of mostly Montana schools. Commissioner Kent Paulson has said the conference has been eyeing expansion for some time.
Because of recent or pending departures, the DAC, which once had 10 members, will be down to just four schools in the fall of 2011. To read more, click here.
