NCAA Will Not Accept BYU's Online Courses

The NCAA's ban on BYU online courses drew concern Tuesday night from Kadie Otto, a former president of The Drake Group, a collection of professors advocating for improved academics for college athletes. Sooners Investigate Assistant Hoops Coach

In a statement, the school indicated that Taliaferro had made calls to a Merrill Lynch representative in Florida and the content of those calls was under review. Oklahoma claims Taliaferro did not break NCAA rules by simply making the calls. The school's investigation started after a TMZ.com report that former player Keith "Tiny" Gallon had received a wire transfer from a Merrill Lynch representative.

The Sooners remain under NCAA probation until Sunday for major violations committed under former basketball coach Kelvin Sampson and by the football program. The NCAA found that Sampson and his staff made more than 550 impermissible recruiting calls between 2000 and 2004.

If the NCAA finds that Taliaferro arranged for Gallon to receive an extra benefit, it could result in another major violation leveled against Oklahoma. To read more, click here.

Michigan Prepares Self Imposed Sanctions

Northeastern Uses Technology to Keep Student-Athletes Academically Connected

Student-Athlete Support Services Director Lauren DeSantis helped decide on the lecture capture initiative, which began as a pilot program in fall 2009. About 25 faculty members participated in the pilot, and 95 classes were captured. The program expanded to 50 faculty members with 445 class recordings in the spring semester. DeGeorge Named Rhodes Head Men's Basketball Coach

DeGeorge transformed the Cornell program from 3 wins in 2005-06 to 21 wins in 2008-09.  The 2008-09 Cornell squad captured the school's first Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Championship and earned the school's first NCAA tournament berth in fifteen years.  Coach DeGeorge was named the IIAC Coach of the Year in 2008-09.
