Head Women's Volleyball Coach-Concordia University

General Duties: Head Women’s Volleyball Coach (.75 FTE) • Works with the Athletic Director on operating budget for volleyball, scheduling games and practices, travel details, conduct of student athletes, training rules and expectations of the coach, team and players. • Works with the Athletic Director on completing insurance and eligibility forms, providing summer camps for volleyball and any other detail concerning volleyball the Athletic Director assigns or requests. • Organizes and conducts all practice sessions, delegates responsibilities to assistants and communicates practice schedule to the maintenance department. • Works with the Admission Office on the recruitment of prospective student athletes. • Works with the equipment manager on inventory and issuance of equipment, laundry and maintenance of the facilities. • Works with the Sports Information Director on weekly write-ups, reporting of scores and statistics, NAIA awards and recognition, team pictures and news releases. • Attends all conference meetings and department meetings. • Works with the Assistant Athletic Director regarding the scheduling, upkeep and proper use of university vans. • Cooperates with the Student Life Office on issues involving student athlete behaviors. • Maintains a volleyball program that incorporates and facilitates Concordia University’s mission to develop servant leaders for the church and world. • Provides student-athletes with positive spiritual leadership and opportunities within the volleyball program and for player’s personal spiritual development. • Other duties as assigned.

Instruction or Athletic Administration Support (.25 FTE) • In order to be an instructor applicant should have a master’s degree in sports management, sports administration, sports studies, or physical education. • Athletic Administration Support duties may include helping with game/event management, facility management, concessions, or any other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.

Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in sports related field preferred. • 3-5 years of experience directly related to field or equivalent. • 2-3 years of experience as an assistant coach in Higher Ed or high school coach preferred. • Demonstrated ability to provide winning results. • National Coaches License preferred. • Valid driver’s license. • Knowledge of NAIA rules relating to the game of volleyball. • Knowledge of athletic recruitment and techniques, including NAIA and GPAC regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and utilize other software applications as necessary; experience with SCT Banner software preferred. • Ability to lead and guide NAIA student-athletes in area of specialty. • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. • Ability to drive a 12 passenger van. • Ability to travel, rent vehicles, drive in large cities and fly in commercial aircrafts. • Ability to supervise assistant coaches and student workers. • Membership in an LCMS congregation preferred.
