Assistant Director for Compliance-Cornell University
Responsibilities include: Functioning as the primary lead for most rules educational efforts. Developing and updating written educational materials, maintain website content, and maintain compliance policies and procedures manual. Serving as a visible steward of the University and a direct interface with student-athletes, coaches, department staff, and representatives of athletics interest. Organizing, conducting, and presenting at educational sessions with constituency groups. Assessing and improving upon existing systems to best ensure uninterrupted compliance with ever-changing rules and regulations. Working directly with designated functional areas within the department (ie, sports camps, ticket office, sports, communications) to ensure conduct and implementation of systems. Monitoring of coaches’ recruiting records, including phone calls, contacts, and evaluations for compliance with all guidelines. Assisting with rules interpretations, rules violation investigations and waiver submissions by conducting research via NCAA and Ivy manuals, NCAA and Ivy League interpretations databases, and reviewing case precedent, educational columns and other resources as deemed appropriate
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required with 2 years of demonstrated knowledge and experience with the application and implementation of Division I rules and compliance. Experience with preparation and presentation of educational materials. Experience teaching on issues of compliance/policy preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability and experience adapting to changing priorities, situations, and multiple demands requiring the ability to multi-task and prioritize. Demonstrated ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality in all aspects of work. Use of basic computer skills and software (ie, Microsoft Word, Excel, internet-based search engines) to perform responsibilities. Background check may be required.
